Gobmi produces high quality urban wear inspired by the Scandinavian indigenous Sámi people. Our clothing is ethically sourced and produced, focusing on sustainability and quality.

Since launching in 2022, Gobmi has garnered international attention with its award winning Bearaš collection. Gobmi won the highly renowned DOGA Award for Design and Architecture in 2023, and the collection has been featured in a number of fashion publications, including Vogue.

 

Live and Hannas brother wore a specially made Gobmi outfit made out of reindeer leather in the MGP finals 2022 with his band NorthKid, where they got second place.

  • Our story

    The sisters Live and Hanna from Áltá discovered their Sami heritage when a family member got old and sick and suddenly spoke Sami. Growing up in the middle of Sápmi close to Sami culture, it all suddenly made sense. 

    ‍This day was the beginning of a journey where the sisters take back their culture and identity that almost got lost in generations before them. Gobmi is part of this journey. Their mission is to create a collective universe where diversity, sustainability and positivity are the central values.

  • The Gobmi Journey

    For years, sisters Live and Hanna dreamed of creating a clothing brand that reimagined their Sámi heritage through modern urban design. In 2022, Gobmi officially launched, and in just two years, the brand has gained national and international recognition.

    Even before their first collection dropped, Gobmi was making waves. Norway’s top fashion news outlet, Melk & Honning, wrote that Gobmi was putting Sámi fashion in the spotlight. In 2021, the brand was nominated for the Fusion Tribute Award, a national honorary award for innovation and sustainability in fashion, alongside established Norwegian brands like Livid, FWSS, and Michael Olestad.

    In November 2022, Gobmi launched its debut collection "Bearaš" [family], a tribute to Sámi cultural narratives. The collection was an immediate success, with pieces selling out within weeks. Shortly after, Gobmi received the prestigious DOGA Award for Newcomers 2023, recognizing its unique blend of cultural storytelling and sustainable fashion.

    Gobmi’s impact quickly extended beyond Norway. In 2023, the brand was selected for Oslo Runway, Norway’s biggest fashion event, and was highlighted by Vogue Scandinavia as a must-watch brand. Gobmi has also been worn by artists and celebrities on red carpets, TV appearances, and international fashion events like Copenhagen Fashion Week.

    Gobmi’s journey is just beginning. With a growing international presence, new collaborations, and an expanding product range, the brand continues to celebrate Sámi heritage and sustainable fashion in new and exciting ways.
